some of you may remember me introducing you tosahara sams water park back in march. they were kind enough to send my family free passes for one visit for telling everyone about their new for 2013 features. of course i procrastinated, and since the passes were good until may 19th i waited until may 18th to go. i had never been to sahara sams before and was scared it would be like chuck e cheese with water, and chuck e cheese grosses me out to be honest. thankfully i was not grossed out on our trip, although depending on which family member you ask the review ranges from "best day EVER" to "meh id rather be in the tub".
we will start with child 1.0's review as he is the one this park was most tailored to. he loved it. he went on every attraction (all 5 of them) two three or four times. we would still probably be there going from giant slide to lazy river and back if i hadnt insisted we take a break and check out the arcade. he had an equally wonderous time in the arcade and im pretty sure he wants to move in. we hadnt even left the parking lot before he was asking when we could go again.
the nile mile was his favorite ride. you can go shooting down the 350 foot water slide alone or with a partner, and of course he was not going alone. the first time he went with babe, and i was informed the tube was so fast going down the slide that babe slowed it down a little by putting his hands on the wall. my mini daredevil wanted to go on again immediately so i traded the baby for the inner tube and went climbing up the stairs. the line looked much longer than it ended up being because there are actually three slides that begin in the same place. babe had not exaggerated and i almost peed myself the descent was so fast. lucky for all involved i held it in and sure enough child1.0 wanted to go again once we got off.
there was a lizard lagoon for the tiniest of water children and baby2.0 and i went to check it out while the bigger ones went off to explore the other attractions. its mainly for toddlers not babies so he was a little small to really enjoy it. there were swings where his feet dangled in the water which bored him (had he been bigger he would have been more in the water), and the little slides have a rule of one person at a time. this in theory is great, but in practice it meant baby2.0 couldnt go down them because i wasnt letting him go alone. we happily sat and played in the water in a corner of the lagoon until he got splashed one too many times by toddlers running around and became upset. while im sure next time hes there he will be bigger and able to enjoy the lagoon properly, i was disppointed there wasnt more for him and the other babies i saw being carried around.
babe had almost as much fun as child1.0. he loves the water and getting to play around in it made his day. he wants to return after labor day when the outdoor attractions are open. as soon as we got there he wanted to go on the florider surf simulator, but graciously held off since you need to be 8 years old to go on it. babe is at least 8 years old, but if he went on child1.0 would want to go on and nobody was looking forward to the meltdown which may have ensued once he heard he was too little.
after we (as in baby2.0 and i) had our fill of water, we dried off and went off to the arcade where babe and child1.0 had a blast. even baby2.0 found something to do and was quite content riding in his car. all in all the trip was a success. i had heard there were long lines, rude attendants and unruly children. we encountered none of that. once it gets warmer we will be heading back to see the outdoor attractions, and maybe i can distract the medium superhero long enough for daddy to try the surf simulator!
