I took my daughter(6yrs) to see Sesame Street Live Elmo’s Green Thumb and she loved it! We went with my friend and her two boys (5,2.5yrs) and they loved it as well. The story line was about Elmo’s plant that he had grown from a seed and was now getting too big for it’s pot and needed to be planted in the ground. The whole Sesame Street gang tries to help Elmo find a good place to plant Sunny the sunflower.
The show had some great messages (caring for the earth, bugs are good for the garden, etc.) and had plenty of singing and dancing to keep the kids entertained. The show had a good mix of fun new songs and familiar favorites. We had seats on the floor and the kids had the opportunity to shake hands and hug the characters as they came off the stage and danced in the aisles. I think this was my daughter’s favorite part! She kept telling everyone who she got to hug. The kids loved seeing the characters up close and they engaged with as many children as possible.
The production did a great job of changing the sets and characters regularly which helped hold the kids attention. I was worried that my friend’s two year old was too young and wouldn’t sit still for the entire show. I was shocked when he sat and watched the whole thing! He sat and clapped and bounced to the music. After the short intermission he snacked on popcorn and watched the rest of the show, just as entertained as before. My daughter loved dancing like the characters and we both sang along to our favorite songs. It was wonderful to see the excitement and joy in my daughter’s eyes during the show. As I looked around the crowd you could see it on all the kids faces, and on the parents’ faces too!
