Our family went to see Sesame Street Live this weekend at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo. What a show! This particular Sesame Street Live show was the story of Elmo Grows Up. During the show all the Sesame Street characters ask each other “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As they get ready for a neighborhood pageant we realize that each friend dreams of something different. Bert wants to be a forest ranger, Telly a cowboy and Abby Cadabby wants to be a fairy godmother. The show was great because it taught the kids that they could be anything they wanted if they just believed in themselves and used team work. Your children will learn that if they are willing to try and work hard they can be ANYTHING they want to be!
The show was not only fun it was a learning experience too (just like the television show). The kids learned about weather, Spanish, counting and different occupations. The cast really tried to get the kids involved in the show which was nice. Whether it was teaching them the words to a song or having them stomp their feet along with the music, the kids were part of the action. To be honest this cast blew me out of the water with their energy and their agility in those costumes!
They did a fantastic job on the scenery and really jazzed it up with lights, a disco ball and amazing backdrops.
Overall, we were extremely impressed with the show and our family had a blast. It lasted 1 ½ hours with a 15 intermission. I wondered how much our 7 year old would enjoy it and thought it may be too young for her but she loved it! Especially when she got to hug Abby Cadabby-the newest Muppeton and her favorite because she wears a ballerina costume (Suggestion: If you can sit between rows 1-12 from the stage and near the end isles). My kids loved it when the characters came into the audience. They were able to hug Abby Cadabby and give Elmo a high five!
I would recommend this to show to any parent or grandparent with children 10 and under. You won’t regret it!
