We had a great family day at Sahara Sams. Our family enjoys water parks and I jumped at the opportunity.
Once the tickets arrived and we picked a date with another family to attend, the excitement and anticipation count down began. Sahara Sams is located about two hours away from us in West Berlin, NJ. So we let the kids pick out a couple of DVD’s and off we went. We made great time and got to the park just as it opened at 10:30 am.
Of course I made my husband squat down and take the same silly picture with me, before we went in–he’s a sport!
The kids were very excited to getting out of their clothes and into the water. I have to say, I was very impressed that the “small” locker was reasonably priced at $5.35 and fit all of our stuff. The best part was that the “key” was FAB type key. It was a frequency on board key that was embedded into a wrist band that I wore, so no annoying key to carry or pin! YAY! And you could open and close the locker as much as you wanted. Of course after a long drive, I needed to use the ladies room and found that exceptionally clean as well. So two pluses and we haven’t even gotten wet yet.
Kristen had “studied” the Sahara Sams website and wanted to go on the family raft ride first. So after getting everything squared away, we decided to make the climb up the five flights literally walked right on. Oh boy! That was one quick ride down, lots of hooting and hollering. It’s dark, fast and wet, just the way we liked it. We were full of giggles and plenty wet by the bottom. The kids were ready to go right back up. I on the other hand was ready for the lazy river. A favorite of mine!
Mommy won out and we enjoyed ourselves on the lazy river as well. It was lots of fun as our friends Lacey and Paul joined us with their four children and we were all bumping one another under the falls, splashing and having a good old time. The kids then headed back up to try out the other shoots and tube slides. The raft ride was a big hit and they went on each several times through out the day. Sean Eddie and I went back to the lazy river and went around a record seven times, boy were my hands pruney.
Later the kids like trying out the crocodile pads. So cute, they have to walk across the lily pads or get eaten by the crocodiles!
Sean Eddie was SO PROUD of himself for getting across just like his big sister Kristen!
After lunch poolside, Kristen and Juliana wanted to try out the Flow Rider the indoor surfing pool. We watched for a while as to see how it was done. Quite a number of people wiped out, but that did not deter the girls. After signing a waiver and getting a special bracelet, they waited on line for their turns. They had a great time!
As the day wound day we found time for ice-cream!
I would say all and all the day was a fun one as evidenced by the two sleeping children in the back seat!
I have no reservations in recommending Sahara Sams, our family had a great day and I’m sure yours will too.
